Oppression Stories

“My husband is a teacher. After 15th of July, during the witch hunt, he was detained for 14 days in İzmir gendarmerie station without being allowed to see anyone including his lawyer. Then he was taken to police office. Yet we were not informed about it. He was kept there for 4 days. We found out he was exposed to physical violence there. When his brother took some clothes for him, he saw it on the camera of the station that there were bruises on his body. He was not taken to doctor’s to prevent registration. He was interrogated for hours without his lawyer and experienced torture. I am 9 months pregnant. Even though I live far away from where they detained him, I went there to provide his needs. I was not allowed in. I was deeply insulted. I experienced psychological oppression. So difficult to explain.”
